Will.i.am: How coding can help fight global inequality

Steve Waddell • January 22, 2015

I love Will.i.am . OK admittedly, and there are a few Black Eyed Peas songs I like and not just because of Fergie.

But his importance surpasses the musical industry. He gets the importance of coding. He realizes that we are not still in the 70’s. He understands that coding is truly a 21st century skill.

He wants access to high demand STEAM careers for everybody. He is high on my list of someone I want to sit down at a Mexican restaurant with for hours, eating chips and salsa and hashing out how to help make education better for all.

He puts his money and his time where his mouth is and I appreciate that.

Check out the BBC interview. Short, sweet and to the point.

Have Fun – Steve

PS – In 2003 we had just started our company and the Black Eyed Peas came out with “Where is the Love?”

At that time our company was in my basement…. and there was just something about the message in the song.

I hear it and I think back to the basement, creating our first courses and believing we could change the world.  It is one of my most favorite songs.
