Haven High School is in its fourth year teaching this Mobile Application Design and Development course. All this continued success is coming from the Haven Business Education Department. The Business Educator responsible for this program is Jessica Wilson.
Ms. Wilson teaches other Business, Career and Technical Education courses including Web Design and Coding and 3D Video Game Design. This recent success is showing Haven High to be a regional STEM / STEAM / CTE powerhouse.
As of 2018, Haven High School students have received the most industry credentials in the region. No other school in the region has had as many students sit for and pass the industry exams for Web Design, Mobile App or Video Game Development.
Not only did the students create a number of apps, build a future-ready portfolio, but have now added industry credentials they can show college recruiters or future employers.
Get Industry Certified
Great Business Educators never teach in a vacuum, and we need congratulate the terrific administrators at Haven without whose support these industry career classes would not exist. Big thanks to Principal Marty Nienstadt, Asst Principal Katelyn Thomas and Superintendent Clark Wedel for their ongoing support that makes this level of student STEAM Career success happen.
The certification earned by the Haven HS students is delivered by WebProfessionals.org , the premier industry association for Web Developers, Web IT and Connected App developers.
WebProfessionals.org’s Executive Director Mark DuBois and educational team were key to the creation of the Certified Mobile Application Design credentials. The industry certification is an optional element for this course.
Many students take the course for only High School credit. Those who want to gain the coveted industry credentials must receive a minimum course grade, meet all project performance requirements as required. Meet all career portfolio and presentation requirements.
Exhibit professionalism in all class activities and pass the credentials exam. Ms. Wilson’s students took the proctored exam at Haven High.
“We are very proud of Ms. Wilson’s students. We continue to see students succeeding at Haven and earning industry credentials year after year. All of us here at WebProfessionals.org love seeing students take these first important steps towards high demand STEAM / STEM careers in Web and App Development.” commented Mark DuBois, Executive Director of the Web Professionals Association.
“Once again this shows that high tech, high demand career education can happen and should happen everywhere. We love seeing the benefits of our Live Rural, Learn Rural and Work Global push,” spoke Steve Waddell, the founder of CTe Learning.
“There is no reason for students, wherever they live, to not get the opportunity to discover their passions and talents for these high-demand STEM careers. Years ago, the wisdom of the day was that if you wanted to work in these types of technology careers, you had to leave the rural community and move to suburban/urban space. Those days are long gone and have been for a while. Jessica, Haven High and her students get it. I wish everyone did.”
